VitiNord 2015 will be hosting a Vineyard & Winery Innovation Tour for participants to attend on Saturday, Nov. 14th. Guests will participate in Field Day opportunities at area vineyards and wineries to learn new and innovative techniques in grape growing and vineyard management.
The tour will conclude with a Farm to Table Dinner featuring the bounty of what Nebraska produces to feed the world!
Both events are included in the registration fee.
Saturday Tour
Departure: 8h, Travel: 1h30
1st stop (9h30): Henry Prokop – Crete/Wilber area High cordon and some vines that were converted from Geneva Double Curtain to VSP. Very precise vineyard with drip irrigation and metal post trellis.
Leaving: 11h, Travel: 1h
2nd stop (12h): James Arthur Vineyard – Raymond ME We will look at their sanitation as use of water in their wine making facility – very conservative with little grey water.
Leaving: 13h30, Travel: 30 min.
3rd stop (14h): Doves Landing – Tom Zumpf — Eagle NE Cold climate varieties as well as high cordon and GDC. This vineyard has had huge issues with spray drift and how they have coped and moved forward with awareness, legalities and management practices.
Leaving: 15h30, Travel: 35 min.
4th stop (16h): Slattery’s Vintage Estates A rural tasting room featuring Nebraska wines and Craft Brews. Local wines and craft beers will be available as well as a nice meal featuring Nebraska wines and locally produced foods.
